Legacy Challenge Rules

Legacy Challenge Rules Update (for the November & December patches)

Legacy rules change

Happy Chrismahanakwaanzaka! Here are some updates and rulings for the Legacy Challenge in response to the changes made in both the November and December patches.

  • The 11th death type, death by drowning, is now required to finish the “Collect every death type” point.
  • * The Athletic and Business branches are now required for the “Get a sim to the top of each career” as well as the “Have a Sim reach the top of every branch”
  • After it was found that ghosts were guzzling potions of youth built up for the Deviance score, you may release their spirits if you don’t want to risk a thirsty ghost finding your potions.
  • You may fully utilize the new time off, vacation days, and family leave system introduced.
  • Note that job promotion requirements and aspiration requirements have both changed…but the rules and scoring for these has not (Besides the additions of the two new careers mentioned earlier.)
  • Added a new heir law to the heir selection page – Democracy. With Democracy you can have others vote on your heir.

The Legacy Challenge and Game Updates

Granite Falls

A lovely teaser shot of the upcoming world, Granite Falls.

With the recent announcement of the upcoming Outdoor Retreat game pack coming to the Sims 4, you might be wondering how the Legacy Challenge will fit into the game changes as they are released.

During the Sims 2 days, Pinstar worked hard to bring updates to the Legacy Challenge as the updates to the game came out. We were unable to keep up with that in The Sims 3 due to real life demands, but we are hoping to be as active with the Sims 4 and its game updates as we were with The Sims 2.

We will be trying to implement challenge changes within a couple of weeks of the game being updated, but it may take time to playtest all of the changes.

As for the upcoming game pack, not much is known about what it will add to the game, so we can’t say for sure how it will affect the challenge, but we will keep you posted as we learn new information and HOPEFULLY give you an idea of some of the changes that will be made to the Legacy Challenge to accommodate it!

What do you all think the new game pack will include? We’d love to hear your speculations!

Legacy Challenge Rules Update Coming Soon!

Sims 4 jobs

Hey everyone! Just a quick little post to let you know that an update to the Legacy Challenge rules will be coming soon to include the changes made to the game in the December patch. This patch had a much bigger change to the game the the previous two, so Pinstar is working on playtesting a few things to see how they will tie into the changes of the challenge.

For the most part, the changes probably won’t be huge, so don’t worry about pausing your Legacies until you hear from him, at most it may just change some point values in the Nature section. I am going to guess that using the given vacation days will be allowed (seeing as that has always been the case in the past), so I would say use those as you see fit as well.

Also, feel free to use the “Move Objects On” cheat to your heart’s desire. A build mode cheat such as that will not affect gameplay and is therefore allowed in the Legacy Challenge as it always has been.

Sims 4 Legacy Challenge FAQ!

Hi everyone! We’ve added a much needed FAQ page to the Sims 4 Legacy Challenge rules. You can find it on the drop down menu above located under “Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Rules”, or you can also view it here.

We compiled a list of questions that we feel were asked the most often, but it’s possible we missed a few important ones. If you have one that you’d like us to add to the page, please let us know here or in the comments section of the FAQ page.

Hopefully this will help alleviate some of the confusion surrounding the challenge!

The Legacy Challenge Rules update 1.00

"Cold" By tcc007

“Cold” By tcc007

With the point charts finally finalized, the only thing left to tackle was to rule on ghosts.

See our updated and revamped scoring page for more details.

Major Rule updates:

  • You may use the death flower to guarantee success when pleading with the reaper to save a dying Sim.
  • You may NOT use ambrosia to resurrect a dead Sim. (You may cook it and have living sims eat it if you wish)
  • You may invite ghost Sims back into your family. However, they no longer earn your Legacy family any Legacy Challenge points. They may not purchase potions of youth and any completed skills, aspirations, or other Legacy Challenge scoring methods do not count for them. They may not take a job. They cannot memorialize other Sims. If they were a member of the Legacy Challenge family.
  • Ghost Sims can still be memorialized but only by Sims that knew them in life.
  • An invited ghost who is no longer welcome may be moved out just like unwanted family members.

Complete overhaul of the Sims 4 Legacy Rules Scoring section!

Pinstar and I have completely overhauled the Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Rules Scoring section! It is now laid out in an easier to read bulletpoint format so that you can see exactly how the points are laid out. A few changes were also made to some of the categories after finding issues with them and listening to feedback.

Pinstar has also finalized the point distribution for all categories! Now that that is done, expect an official scoresheet soon!

Legacy Challenge Rules Update 0.96

Parker Masque might be gone, but he's not forgotten.

Parker Masque might be gone, but he’s not forgotten.

Hello everyone, below you will find the following changes to the Legacy Challenge Rules:

A new concept is being introduced. The first spouse brought into the house each generation (once that generation’s heir reaches young adulthood) is known as the “Primary Spouse” The distinction of “Primary Spouse” does NOT mean the spouse HAS to be the sim who helps bring about the next generation. The “Primary Spouse” distinction is, however, important for two scoring categories.

In the “Love” category, determining which spouse’s traits to consider for collecting unique traits only looks at “Primary Spouses” even if more spouses are moved in later in a generation and/or are used to produce the next generation. Any spouses moved in AFTER the primary spouse are ignored for the purposes of the love category.

When using the trait calculator to determine a new child’s traits, the ‘secondary parent’ section is whoever was involved in the child’s birth or adoption. Weather they are a Primary or secondary spouse doesn’t matter always use that child’s actual parent when using the trait calculator (whether it be a primary spouse, secondary spouse, non-spouse etc)

A rule change for the Creative category has also been implemented. In order to earn points in the creative category, only the Founder/Heir and their primary spouse have to be memorialized in each generation to earn that generation’s point. There is no rule against memorializing spares and secondary spouses, but they are optional for the purpose of the creative point.

A Sim may be memorialized at any time, even after their death. However the person doing the memorial work must have known the Sim being memorialized in life at some point (They don’t have to have been friends with them, just have met them at least once)

Major updates to the Random Trait Generator are now live!

Hey everyone! Our super awesome tech guru did a major update to our trait generator last night and hopefully it is working as intended now.

First off, adult aspirations are now generated for teens instead of adults.

Secondly, the bug that was preventing parents from having certain traits has been fixed.

Finally, we added a SECOND generator to the site, this one will give you all traits and aspirations at once (like the generator used to do). Several people had requested it back, so, ask and you shall receive. Both generators can be found on the menu above. The new generator is called “Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Random Trait Generator (All traits at once).”

Here are the links to both generators:

Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Random Trait Generator (1 trait/aspiration at a time)
Sims 4 Legacy Challenge Random Trait Generator (All Traits at Once)
