Sim of the Month Challenge – November 2018 – Bryce Shy

The Story:

The worst decision of Bryce’s life, was marrying his spouse, who shall remain nameless. The second worst decision of Bryce’s life was hiring a discount lawyer for the divorce proceedings. Compared to his spouse’s lawyer, his own seemed fresh out of law school or worse. As a result he got taken to the cleaners when it came to splitting up the divorcing couple’s assets. His house, his possessions, his job and most of his hopes and dreams, all gone. All that was left was his dog, Choncey. His cat-loving spouse never treated Choncey well, unlike Bryce, and when the Judge let Choncey decide which member of the splitting couple to go with, Choncey rushed to Bryce’s side without hesitation.

Now broken, almost broke, homeless, and jobless, Bryce has very little trust in his fellow humans, and even less romantic interest. Uninterested in doing anything that would make other *people* happy, he decides to pursue a life as a veterinarian in order to help dogs. To help the only creatures that ever loved and respected him . Unfortunately, along with dogs come cats, and a reminder of his feline-fancying former spouse. Begrudgingly he treats them too, quickly and chemically if only to get to the next dog patient sooner.

Can Bryce put his life back together and find happiness? Will he ever be able to trust and love again? Will he succeed in paying back canine kind for everything they have done for him? Only you can answer that in November’s Sim of the Month Challenge.

Rules:

• Expansion(s) Needed: Cats & Dogs *
• Download the “Shy” household from the Gallery under username Pinstar1161 or by searching the hashtag #simofthemonth
• For general Sim of the Month Challenge rules (rules that apply to all Sim of the Month challenges) go here
• Bryce and Choncey can live anywhere, including an apartment. You can either build his home, use a pre-existing one, or download a house/apartment from the Gallery.
• Lifespan set to normal.
• Bryce may not take any normal job or earn income through non-standard means (such as painting, writing, or businesses other than the Veterinary Clinic). He MAY sell back objects that he no longer needs as long as it’s for no more than he bought the item for (or for less than that). The only business Bryce is allowed to open is the veterinary clinic.
• The veterinary clinic can be placed in any world and can be either built from scratch, a pre-existing building, or can be downloaded from the Gallery.
• His dog, Choncey, must always travel with Bryce wherever he goes and the dog can never be moved out of the family.
• When working as a veterinarian, Bryce can use any calming techniques that he knows on dogs, but he must only use chemical sedation on cats. If Bryce hires other employees, they do not need to follow this rule.
• Bryce cannot use any flirty interactions if his dominant emotion is “Tense” or “Uncomfortable”
• Bryce cannot move other Sims into his house unless it is through marriage. Bryce’s potential spouse must have the Dog Lover trait. The spouse can get a job, it does not have to be in the veterinary clinic. Once married the two can have children/adopt if you wish. Bryce does not NEED to get married, but this is the only way to bring other Sims into the household.
  • NOTE: You can pre-populate your world with player-made Sims that have the “Dog Lover” trait. RNG isn’t always kind to players when looking for a specific trait, so feel free to add some of your own Sims to the world to make finding a potential spouse easier. We want this challenge to be difficult, not impossible.

Goal:

To successfully complete this challenge you must get Bryce’s veterinary clinic to Five Stars as quickly as possible. Your score is the number of Sim days that this takes. The lower the score, the better.

Failure Conditions:

If Choncey dies before Bryce’s clinic reaches Five Stars then the challenge ends in failure.
