Hello everyone! After reading several comments and doing some research myself on this, I am wondering how long it takes those of you that have chosen the Exemplar Succession Law to see the trait that you chose as the exemplar trait. How many kids do your Sims have to have before the Random Trait Generator gives you the trait that you chose?

Hi, I would like to explain my vote. I chose the Exemplar with my first Sims4 Legacy Challenge game. I got very lucky inasmuch as the first son born, out of three sons, to my Founder had the trait. However, my new Heir was not so lucky. He had three sons, none of whom had the desired trait. He tried again and got twin girls. :O It’s a Patriarchy, Strict.
The household being full, I ended up moving the eldest son in Gen. Three out of the house so his parents could try again. Face/palm. I had forgotten the little caveat that I could ignore the exemplar and just choose an heir. That being said, I refused to move him back into the household because that would just be a further infraction. The parents ended up having yet another girl. Ultimately, it scuttled my Legacy. In my total dismay, I deleted the game save.
That was last year. I’m just now trying again. But, I chose a different third succession rule. I liked the idea of the Exemplar, but I had phenomenal luck with the second generation, but none on the third. 🙁 It needs to be changed a bit.
Normally I have to pick a child’s trait as my Exemplar trait because otherwise I have 10+ kids before I even see the trait I need. When I do pick a child trait, I need to have at least 5 kids before it shows up.
I’m on gen 8. Each generation has had at least two children. We haven’t rolled the exemplar trait yet!
Both founder and founder’s spouse had it. (No other spouses have had it yet.) My exemplar trait is goofball. (We have had lots of gluttons and lots of geeks! And quite a few snobs, all inheriting these traits from parents!)
I used exemplar on my first attempt at the legacy challenge. I got the exemplar trait on the second or third try in the second generation. Unfortunately the game was badly bugged and I had to quit before the heir came of age. I was using a child’s trait so I had the best possible chance.
If I didn’t already pick democracy as a backup trait, i’d pre roll amongst the children to see who will inherit the examplar trait. I just tested the generator on the one-at-a-time setting and I had to roll 8 times for ambitious to pop up-granted the children have a 1/6 shot of getting it but I think it’s happened in the past too with a 1/3 shot.
