It’s been a really hot and humid summer here so I thought my first recipe back with Eat Like a Sim should be something cold that can be enjoyed on a hot day. The Ice Cream Maker introduced with the Cool Kitchen Stuff pack offered up several options! I was intrigued by the flavor called “Fruits of the Forest” and I envisioned a mixed berry ice cream (since berries are commonly found in forests). The Sims made version shows what looks like vanilla ice cream with swirls of pink and purple. I couldn’t QUITE replicate the exact look, but I think it tastes great!
I decided to go with an egg-free ice cream base because I didn’t want to have to cook the ice cream beforehand. I tend to prefer just quickly mixing up the ice cream ingredients and pouring them into the ice cream maker, rather than adding the extra step of cooking it first (especially since I already had to cook both sauces). In my opinion the consistency of the ice cream without eggs really isn’t that much different than the kind with.
You will need an ice cream maker for this recipe. The one that I have linked is the one that I personally use and I think it worked great! It is also recommended that you have an immersion blender to properly blend the sauces after they have been cooked.
Fruits of the Forest Ice Cream
Fruits of the Forest Ice Cream from The Sims 4 made in real life with strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries.
For the Ice Cream Base
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups half and half
- 3/4 cups white sugar
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
For the Strawberry Sauce
- 1 cup frozen or fresh strawberries
- 2 Tbsp white sugar
- 1 Tbsp water
For the Blueberry Raspberry Sauce
- 1/2 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup frozen or fresh raspberries
- 2 Tbsp white sugar
- 1 Tbsp water
For the Strawberry Sauce (make this before the ice cream so it can cool)
-
Combine strawberries, water, and sugar in a small pot and heat until boiling.
-
Once it has reached boiling remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
-
Blend with an immersion blender until smooth. Set aside to cool completely.

For the Ice Cream Base
-
Whisk together all ingredients for the ice cream.
-
Pour the mixture into ice cream maker and churn according to the maker’s instructions for at least 20 minutes (this will vary depending on what kind of ice cream maker you have) or until ice cream reaches “soft-serve” consistency.
Combining the Sauces with the Ice Cream Base
-
Put your ice cream base (which should now be at soft serve consistency) into a shallow dish or container as shown.
-
Spoon about 1/3 of the cooled strawberry sauce to one side of the container and 1/3 of the cooled blueberry raspberry sauce to the other side of the container (as shown in the picture) The remaining sauces will be used as ice cream toppings later!
-
Starting at a top corner of the container insert a spoon or butter knife into the mixture and slowly make a zig-zag pattern from one side of the container to the other making your way to the bottom. This will mix and swirl the sauces into the ice cream as shown in the picture.
-
Cover and freeze for at least 2 hours before serving.
-
Serve with toppings of your choice (don’t forget about the leftover fruit sauces that you set aside so you can top the ice cream with them!)
