Hello everyone, and welcome to another Challenge Accepted! I thought it would be fun to get to know some of the Simmers that play the Legacy Challenge, Wonder Child Challenge, and/or Apocalypse Challenge (and any other challenges that we post here), so I am going to be sending out interview questions to Simmers to learn more about them and how they got into the Sims. If you would like to participate, please let me know!
This week’s Challenge Accepted! features SgtShaf a Sims 4 streamer on Twitch.tv. SgtShaf regularly streams on his channel and will frequently play both the Legacy Challenge and the Block Party Challenge, along with other challenges not made by Pinstar or I (such as the Asylum Challenge). You can find SgtShaf’s previous streams on his Youtube channel. Here is what SgtShaf has to say:
Mystic: When did you start playing The Sims?
SgtShaf: My first experience with The Sims series was in 2008 when I went to fix a computer for a friend of the family. They said their daughter had an issue whenever they tried to play The Sims 3. They kept getting a black screen. I fixed the problem and started to play the game to make sure the problem didn’t persist. It took a little getting used to this concept of controlling people and their lives as I’ve never played this type of game before, but little did I know that 2 years later I would get my own physical copy of the game and was hooked. I enjoyed the game so much that I wanted to share my passion for the game by streaming it.
What made you decide to try the Legacy Challenge and/or other player-made challenges for the game?
That was the work of my best friend Koo. He told me about the Legacy Challenge and the family he was working on in The Sims 3. So I figured I would try as well and broadcast my ups and downs during the challenge. Doing Challenges makes the game more exciting and gets me out of my comfort zone which makes for great broadcasting when things don’t always go your way.
What is your favorite game and expansion pack for the franchise?
My favorite game is Sims 4. My favorite expansion is Sims 3 Island Paradise. Who doesn’t like creating and managing their own Island Resort or creating a House Boat?
What is your favorite Sims challenge to Let’s Play/Stream/write about?
I love streaming and doing a Let’s Play of the Legacy Challenge on YouTube. I started one in The Sims 3, but when Sims 4 came out I had to create one there too. I also stream The Block Party Challenge and The Asylum Challenge, but the Legacy Challenge is my favorite.
Of all of your Sims, who is your favorite?
I’ve created so many, but out of all of them I’m really proud of my Minerals Family. Yep I can’t just pick one. Sapphire, Ruby and their adopted daughter Emerald. I originally created Sapphire and Ruby to test out the new Athletic and Business jobs that were released during a free updates. I’ve grown quite fond of them and I know a bunch of my viewers enjoy it when I stream the family doing whatever.
Of all of the Sims games, what is your favorite lifetime wish/aspiration?
Hands down Sims 3 Rockstar! “‘Cause we all just wanna be big rockstars
And live in hilltop houses driving fifteen cars” -Nickleback Rockstar
Do you have any tips for people that are just starting out playing Sims challenges?
My tip is for the Legacy Challenge and to those that may struggle with making money. Painting skill is the best money maker early game! Give your founder the painting aspiration to get easy satisfaction points and pick up the Marketable trait as soon as possible to make tons of money. You’ll go from being a wall less hobo to a well decorated house before your next generation is born You don’t even need your own easel you can use the one in The Museum. Don’t get a job as a painter though as you’ll want your sim to spend their time actually painting instead of going to work. In the end though just have fun with any challenge you do and try to follow the rules to the best of your abilities.
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions Shaf!
